Okayama is also served by the Okayama International Airport (OKJ), connected with several cities in Japan, including Tokyo, and with some international flights as well, mainly to South Korea, China and Taiwan. From Tokyo Haneda airport the needed time is about 70 minutes.
From the airport to Okayama station there is a bus link, taking 30 minutes. Click here for more information about the bus, at the official site of the airport, in English.
・By intercity bus
Okayama is well linked by highway bus as well, to Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Hiroshima, Shikoku, Fukuoka and so on. A trip from Tokyo to Okayama would take about 7-8 hours, and a price of 10.000 yen, but if you reserve it in advance, you can go as cheap as 4000 yen or even less. There are overnight buses as well.
・How to move in the city center
Okayama is one of the cities of Japan still retaining a streetcar system. In the city different kind of trains are running, so it is nice to ride and see them. For example, the one in this picture above I took, has cute graphics of the cat Tama.
Okayama tram can be used to reach the castle and the Korakuen garden from the main railway station (100 yen as of 2015, 4 stops, 5 minutes).
