When to visit
This question could be replaced by “when to come to Japan?”, As this region will be touched by 90% of people at their first time in Japan.
On tourist guides and online there are a huge amount of information, but in short, any season is good. Personally, living in Japan, our favorite seasons are:
- Summer: it’s really hot with high humidity, but you can not miss the fireworks festivals, the summer matsuri and the days at the beach (some great ones in Izu peninsula)
- Autumn: in Tokyo between September and October it rains enough, but then the weather calms down, and continue wonderful days of good weather, accompanied by the color of the autumn leaves
- Winter: it’s a bit cold (especially it was in winter 2017-18), but it almost never rains and the atmosphere is clear, perfect to spot the snow-capped Mount Fuji here and there, or to capture wonderful night views of the glittering skyscrapers of Tokyo
- Spring: Tokyo and the other cities of Kanto are home to several places to admire the cherry blossoms, and to enjoy a day of hiking not too demanding, such as the mountains of Oku-Tama or Oku-Musashi, and the classic Mount Takao.
